Mississippi Gulf Coast vs Delgado
NEW ORLEANS (Interstat) — A men’s junior college basketball rematch awaits Tuesday as the Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs visit the Delgado Dolphins.
The Bulldogs (7-2) will look to complete a regular-season sweep after narrowly defeating the Dolphins 79-76 at home on Dec. 4. Delgado (4-7) seeks to avenge that close loss and improve its standing on its home court.
Mississippi Gulf Coast enters with the stronger record but is coming off an 88-85 road loss to Hinds on Dec. 12. Prior to that, the Bulldogs edged Jones 116-114 in double overtime on Dec. 8, demonstrating their ability to win tight games. Key performers from the first meeting against Delgado included London Lee, who posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Oren Bowens, who added 16 points and six rebounds.
Delgado has struggled recently, losing its last two games by significant margins. The Dolphins fell 76-57 at Bishop State on Dec. 19 and dropped a 106-90 decision to Coastal Alabama at home on Dec. 18. Their last victory was a 74-70 road win over Hinds on Dec. 8, which immediately followed the narrow loss to Gulf Coast.
The Bulldogs’ offense has been potent, scoring over 85 points in six of their nine games. Delgado’s challenge will be to contain that scoring surge while finding more consistent production of its own. The Dolphins have been held under 60 points in three of their seven losses.
Following this contest, Mississippi Gulf Coast will host Baton Rouge on Thursday. Delgado’s next game is at home against Pearl River on Saturday.
Tipoff is set for Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, in New Orleans.
