Preview: Redlands Cougars at Connors State Cowboys

WARNER, Okla. (Interstat) — The Connors State Cowboys look to rebound from a pre-holiday loss when they host the Redlands Cougars in a men’s junior college basketball matchup on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.

The Cowboys (2-1) last played on Nov. 22, falling 69-64 at Grayson College. Their season opened with consecutive road wins over Independence (70-64) and Hill College (81-56). A scheduled home game against Grayson on Dec. 1 was recorded as a 0-0 result, indicating a postponement or cancellation. Monday’s contest marks their first action in over six weeks.

Redlands (1-1) enters having split its two December games. The Cougars earned a 90-78 road win at Clarendon on Dec. 5 but dropped an 85-71 home decision to Howard (Texas) on Dec. 12. In that loss, Damond Matthews led the Cougars with 19 points, while Treston Gage added 11 points and seven assists, and Jayden Forrest scored 18 points.

The game represents an early regional test for both teams as they resume their schedules. Connors State will aim to leverage home court advantage to solidify its winning record, while Redlands seeks a road victory to move above .500.

This is the first of two scheduled meetings this season between the teams. They are slated to meet again at Redlands on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Following this game, Connors State travels to face Eastern Oklahoma State on Jan. 12. Redlands’ next contest is at home against Eastern Oklahoma State on Jan. 8.
