Northern Oklahoma-Enid vs Eastern Oklahoma State
WILBURTON, Okla. (Interstat) — A surging Northern Oklahoma-Enid Jets squad will look to extend its winning streak when it visits the struggling Eastern Oklahoma State Mountaineers in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Monday.
The Jets (5-1) enter on a three-game win streak, most recently defeating Southwestern Christian 79-66 on Dec. 12. KeJuan Payne led the way in that victory with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Gavin Barnard added 15 points. Northern Oklahoma-Enid’s only loss came against Barton on Nov. 14.
Eastern Oklahoma State (1-3) seeks to regain momentum after a narrow 68-65 road loss to Collin County on Dec. 9. The Mountaineers’ lone win this season was a 70-59 home victory over Grayson on Dec. 4. They have struggled offensively in their losses, failing to reach 70 points in each of their three defeats.
The matchup pits Northern Oklahoma-Enid’s high-scoring attack against an Eastern Oklahoma State team searching for consistency. The Jets have averaged approximately 82 points per game in their wins this season. The Mountaineers will need to contain a balanced Jets offense that has seen multiple players, including Payne and the Barnard duo, post strong performances.
This game begins a critical January stretch for both teams within the region. Following this contest, Northern Oklahoma-Enid will host Murray State (Okla.) on Jan. 8. Eastern Oklahoma State hits the road to face Redlands on Jan. 8.
Monday’s tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Eastern Oklahoma State College gymnasium. The teams will meet again in Enid on Feb. 5.
