Pratt vs Cloud County
Pratt Seeks First Win Against Cloud County in Junior College Matchup
CONCORDIA, Kan. (Interstat) — The winless Pratt Community College Beavers will look to break through against the Cloud County Thunderbirds in a men’s junior college basketball game here Saturday.
Pratt (0-10) enters the contest after a three-week holiday break, last falling 69-61 to Dodge City on Dec. 13. Justin Robinson led the Beavers in that loss with nine points, six rebounds and five assists in 32 minutes. Pratt’s season has been defined by narrow defeats, including four losses by five points or fewer, but also several lopsided results.
Cloud County (4-7) also last played on Dec. 13, dropping a 75-62 decision at Hutchinson. The Thunderbirds have shown offensive firepower, scoring 85 or more points in three victories this season, but have struggled for consistency. In their most recent outing, Manasseh Stackhouse posted a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while DJ Holloway added 15 points and six rebounds.
The Thunderbirds’ home record stands at 3-3, with wins over Seward County, North Platte and Missouri State-West Plains. Pratt is 0-4 in true road games, having lost those contests by an average of 19.5 points.
Historically, the teams did not meet during the non-conference portion of the schedule. This game marks the beginning of a critical stretch for both programs as Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play intensifies.
For Pratt, the focus will be on finding a scoring rhythm to support Robinson and Hunter Vaughn, who averages 4.4 assists. The Beavers have been held under 70 points in six of their ten games.
Cloud County will rely on its interior presence, led by Stackhouse and Elidjah Savane, who grabbed 10 rebounds against Hutchinson. Protecting home court will be paramount for the Thunderbirds as they aim to climb above .500 in conference play.
The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. tipoff at Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
