Paris vs Angelina

PARIS, Texas (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams with identical 6-3 conference records will meet Saturday when the Paris Dragons visit the Angelina Roadrunners.

The matchup at Angelina College on Jan. 3, 2026, features teams trending in opposite directions. Paris (6-3 overall) carries momentum from a three-game winning streak, its last a 73-60 road victory over Coastal Bend on Dec. 13. Angelina (6-4) looks to rebound from a 60-53 home loss to Baton Rouge on Tuesday.

The Roadrunners will lean on forward Daemon Ely, who is coming off a dominant performance despite the loss. Against Baton Rouge, Ely logged 32 minutes, scoring 14 points while grabbing 15 rebounds and blocking four shots. His recent play includes a 15-point, 9-rebound effort in a win at Bossier Parish on Dec. 13.

Paris has shown resilience in close games, with four of its six wins coming by five points or fewer, including a 73-70 victory over Tyler on Dec. 10. The Dragons’ defense will be tested by Ely and an Angelina squad that averages strong interior play.

Angelina’s schedule shows a challenging January ahead, with games against Panola, Tyler and Kilgore following Saturday’s contest. Paris begins a key stretch hosting Kilgore on Jan. 7 before a rematch with Angelina in Paris on Jan. 31.

Saturday’s winner will gain an early edge in the conference standings as both programs seek a postseason push. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. local time.
