GARDEN CITY, Kan. (Interstat) — Nico Doume sank a free throw with no time remaining Saturday to lift the Garden City Broncbusters to an 83-82 men’s junior college basketball victory over the Cowley Tigers.

In a back-and-forth contest, Cowley’s Marcus Smith scored a game-high 33 points, but Garden City’s Dasean Lewis answered with 25. The Broncbusters trailed by one after a furious first quarter ended with Garden City ahead 44-43. The teams traded leads throughout the second half, setting up the final sequence. Doume was fouled on a put-back attempt as time expired and made the decisive shot.

The win improved Garden City to 9-4, while Cowley fell to 8-4.
