Imperial Valley vs Grossmont
EL CAJON, Calif. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking to halt prolonged slides will meet Friday when the Grossmont Griffins host the Imperial Valley Arabs.
The non-conference matchup features struggling squads with a combined 1-21 record across all competitions this season. Grossmont (1-9) enters having lost nine consecutive games since its lone victory on Nov. 19. Imperial Valley (0-12) is still in search of its first win.
The game, organized by the California Community College Athletic Association, is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 19, 2025.
Imperial Valley is reeling from a 86-38 home loss to Barstow on Monday, a defeat that followed a 91-34 rout at Chaffey on Dec. 11. The Arabs have lost by an average margin of 41.8 points during their winless start.
Grossmont is coming off a 100-62 home loss to Santa Ana on Dec. 13. The Griffins’ losing streak includes several narrow defeats, including a 102-100 overtime loss at Desert on Dec. 2 and a 93-89 loss to De Anza on Dec. 6.
A key player to watch for Imperial Valley is Chrishawn Hollis. He scored 14 points in 21 minutes during the loss at Chaffey and will be relied upon to provide offensive production.
Grossmont will look to sophomore guard Zeid Salem, who is coming off a season-high 21-point performance against Santa Ana. Salem added four rebounds, an assist and a block in that contest. His scoring punch will be central to the Griffins’ efforts to snap their skid.
Following this game, Imperial Valley is off until opening Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play at MiraCosta on Jan. 3. Grossmont will travel to Los Angeles City on Dec. 30 before beginning conference action at San Diego Miramar on Jan. 3.
Friday’s contest represents one of the best remaining opportunities for either team to gain momentum before the conference schedule begins in earnest next month.
