Mount San Jacinto vs Copper Mountain
COPPER MOUNTAIN, Calif. (Interstat) — A key early-season California community college men’s basketball clash is set for Wednesday when the Mount San Jacinto Eagles visit the Copper Mountain Fighting Cacti.
The non-conference matchup, part of the Basic Needs Food Drive event, pits two of the region’s hottest teams. Mount San Jacinto (9-3) enters on a three-game winning streak, while Copper Mountain (8-3) has won four of its last five.
The Eagles are led by dynamic forward Adrian Mosley, who is averaging 22.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He is coming off a dominant 31-point, 10-rebound performance in a 108-98 win over Chaffey on Saturday. In his last five games, Mosley has recorded three double-doubles.
Copper Mountain counters with guard Tyrece Rose, who is averaging 18.8 points per game. Rose scored 24 points and dished out six assists in the Fighting Cacti’s most recent victory, a 64-62 road win at Desert on Saturday. His backcourt play will be critical against Mount San Jacinto’s high-scoring attack, which has surpassed 90 points in six games this season.
The Fighting Cacti have relied on a strong defense, holding opponents to 62 points or fewer in three of their last five contests. How they contain Mosley and an Eagles offense averaging over 86 points per game will be the central storyline.
Both teams are using this game as a final tune-up before their holiday breaks and the start of conference play in January. They will meet again in a conference rematch at Mount San Jacinto on Jan. 28.
Tip-off is scheduled for Wednesday at the Basic Needs Food Drive. The winner will secure a valuable resume-building victory heading into the new year.
