Chaffey vs San Bernardino Valley
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging San Bernardino Valley College men’s basketball team will look to continue its strong start when it hosts an inconsistent Chaffey College squad in a California community college matchup Wednesday night.
The Wolverines (8-5) enter on a four-game winning streak, most recently routing Victor Valley 85-63 on Saturday. The home team has found success with balanced scoring and defensive pressure during its run.
Conversely, the visiting Panthers (5-7) have lost three of their last four, including a 108-98 shootout loss at Mount San Jacinto last Saturday. Chaffey has shown offensive firepower, scoring 91 and 98 points in two of its last three games, but defensive consistency has been an issue.
A key matchup will feature two impactful forwards. Chaffey will rely on Collin Ingram, who is coming off a 20-point, six-rebound performance in 34 minutes against Mount San Jacinto. Over his last six games, Ingram has averaged 11.8 points and 5.0 rebounds.
San Bernardino Valley counters with Kaden Jones, a versatile player who posted 13 points and four rebounds in 35 minutes in a tight win over Ventura on Dec. 4. Jones provides steady rebounding and defensive presence for the Wolverines.
In their last outing, Chaffey’s Collin Ingram, Avery Garcia (16 points) and Christian Walton (14 points) combined for 50 points in the loss. San Bernardino Valley’s recent win over Victor Valley showcased its depth, with no individual statistics immediately provided.
The Wolverines have been strong at home this season, boasting notable victories over Santa Monica and Compton. Chaffey will aim to improve its 2-4 road record.
This game is the first of two regular-season meetings between the Inland Empire rivals. They will meet again at Chaffey on Jan. 28.
Following this contest, San Bernardino Valley will host Copper Mountain on Saturday, while Chaffey will host Cerro Coso the same day.
Tip-off is set for Wednesday at San Bernardino Valley College.
