West Los Angeles vs Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. (Interstat) — A marquee early-season men’s junior college basketball showdown is set for Saturday when the West Los Angeles Wildcats visit the Fullerton Hornets in the 39th Fullerton College Classic.

The matchup features two of California’s hottest teams. The Wildcats (9-1) enter on a nine-game winning streak, while the Hornets (8-1) have won seven straight since their only loss.

That lone blemish for Fullerton came against these same Wildcats, a 92-86 road defeat on Nov. 19. West Los Angeles forward Malachi Knight was pivotal in that victory, scoring 22 points with eight rebounds. Knight has been on a tear, averaging 20.0 points and 5.7 rebounds over his last seven games, including a 27-point, 11-rebound performance in a win over Compton on Dec. 6.

Fullerton will counter with forward Brayden Smith, who was held to 11 points in the first meeting. Smith has been a force since, averaging 14.0 points and 9.3 rebounds over his last three contests, keying a Hornets defense that has held opponents to 59.3 points per game during their win streak.

The game is a resume-building opportunity for both teams ahead of conference play. West Los Angeles’s high-octane offense, which has scored 85 or more points in six straight games, will be tested by a stifling Fullerton defense that hasn’t allowed more than 59 points in its last three outings.

Saturday’s winner will claim early bragging rights as one of the state’s top contenders.

Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at Fullerton College.
