Canada (Calif.) vs Butte

OROVILLE, Calif. (Interstat) — The Butte College Roadrunners will look to continue their winning momentum when they host the Canada College Colts in a California community college men’s basketball matchup on Saturday.

Butte (7-6) enters on a two-game win streak, including an 88-62 victory over American River on Wednesday. A key factor has been the play of Dai’shaun Buie, who posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 78-75 win over Yuba last Sunday.

The Roadrunners have shown offensive firepower, scoring 85 or more points in five of their seven wins this season. Their schedule has been challenging, with four of their six losses coming against teams with winning records in non-conference play.

Canada (3-5) arrives after a dominant 86-46 home win over Gavilan on Dec. 6, which snapped a three-game skid. The Colts’ season has been marked by inconsistency, alternating between high-scoring performances, like a 95-point outing in a season-opening win, and offensive struggles, including a 58-point effort in a loss to Modesto.

The Colts will need to find scoring beyond their recent blowout to challenge a Butte team that averages over 78 points per game. Defense may be the deciding factor; Canada allowed an average of 83 points during its recent losing streak.

This game serves as a final non-conference tune-up for both teams before league play intensifies in January. Butte will aim to protect its home court and push its record above .500, while Canada seeks to build on its last victory and even its season mark.

Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon at Butte College.
