Feather River Looks to Extend Win Streak Against Struggling American River

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Feather River College men’s basketball team will visit a struggling American River College squad in a California junior college matchup Friday night.

The Feather River Golden Eagles (7-4) enter on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating Mendocino 90-72 on the road Dec. 5. The American River Beavers (2-7) have lost four consecutive games, with their last outing a 64-55 defeat at Lassen on Nov. 21.

Feather River’s offense has found its rhythm during the streak, averaging 81.3 points per game in wins over Merced, Merritt and Mendocino. A key catalyst has been Damonte Duhart, who is coming off a near triple-double performance. Against Mendocino, Duhart posted 16 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. He also recorded a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds in the prior win over Merritt.

Zacarrion Jackson (17 points) and Nick Fletcher (13 points) provided significant support in the win over Mendocino, giving the Golden Eagles multiple scoring threats.

American River has faced defensive challenges during its skid, allowing an average of 86.3 points in losses to Contra Costa, Siskiyous, Foothill and Lassen. Their most recent victory was a 76-59 home win over Gavilan on Nov. 1.

The Beavers will need to contain Feather River’s balanced attack and find consistent offense to snap their losing streak. Feather River will aim to maintain its momentum before a quick turnaround at Sacramento City on Saturday.

Friday’s game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff at American River College.
