MODESTO, Calif. (Interstat) — The unbeaten Modesto Pirates host the San Jose Jaguars in a men’s junior college basketball game on Friday.

Modesto (6-0) enters the contest as one of the few remaining undefeated teams in California community college basketball. The Pirates are coming off a 10-day break following an 84-70 road victory over Contra Costa on Nov. 25, where four players scored in double figures. Their early season wins include a 102-point offensive outburst against Reedley.

San Jose (5-4) looks to bounce back from a narrow 80-76 home loss to Fresno City on Tuesday. In that game, forward Taj Royster posted 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for the Jaguars. Guard Dylan Galvan added 11 points and three assists.

The Jaguars have shown a pattern of strong defensive performances, holding opponents under 65 points in four of their five victories this season. However, they face a Modesto team averaging over 78 points per game.

Following Friday’s matchup, San Jose will host Lemoore on Dec. 11. Modesto’s next game is also on Dec. 11, a home contest against Lassen.
