SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — The Cosumnes River Hawks will look to continue their strong early-season start when they host the struggling Lassen Cougars in a men’s junior college basketball game Friday in the 42OT Annual James Clark Classic.

The Hawks (5-2) enter the contest on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating Marin 92-63 on Nov. 26. Their offense has been potent, averaging 83.6 points per game during that stretch.

Conversely, the Cougars (1-7) seek to halt a six-game skid. Their lone victory came against American River, 64-55, on Nov. 21. They are coming off an 87-83 home loss to Sacramento City on Nov. 22 and had a game against Reedley listed as a 0-0 result on Dec. 4.

Lassen has faced defensive challenges, allowing an average of 79.4 points per game this season. Cosumnes River, which averages 83.1 points, will test that unit.

The game is part of a busy weekend for both teams. Cosumnes River will host Siskiyous on Saturday, while Lassen will face Las Positas the same day.
