De Anza vs San Diego City

SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams with identical overall records but contrasting recent form will meet Friday when the De Anza Mountain Lions visit the San Diego City Knights.

The non-conference matchup, organized by the California Community College Athletic Association, features two 4-win squads. San Diego City (4-2) enters on a two-game win streak, including an 87-72 victory at Allan Hancock on Nov. 23. De Anza (4-3) looks to snap a two-game skid after falling 101-86 at Sierra on Nov. 26.

The Knights’ defense has been stout, allowing an average of 58.3 points in their last three outings. The Mountain Lions boast a high-powered offense, having scored 97 points or more in three of their wins, but have conceded 98 or more in all three losses.

De Anza’s Dylan Griffin, who posted 18 points and five rebounds in the loss to Sierra, will be a key offensive focus. The Interstat game simulator projects a rare 100-100 draw.

Tipoff is set for Friday, Dec. 5, in San Diego. The Knights travel to Fullerton on Dec. 12, while the Mountain Lions visit Folsom Lake the same day.
