GLENDIVE, Mont. (Interstat) — The Dawson Buccaneers narrowly defeated the Cochise Apaches 84-83 in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday night. Dawson improved to 9-6 overall, while Cochise fell to 6-3.

The game featured 12 lead changes and neither team led by more than nine points. Dawson’s Kuich Gatwech hit a critical 3-pointer with 3:27 remaining to give his team an 83-80 lead, and Zakai Owens made the decisive free throw with 3:01 left for the final margin.

Jhace Johnson led Cochise with 20 points. Naeem Colston added 10 points and 16 rebounds. Dawson was led by Brandon Hymes with 12 points and six rebounds, while Michael Murphy also scored 12. Cochise outrebounded Dawson 48-46 but committed 12 turnovers to Dawson’s eight.
