MONTEREY, Calif. (Interstat) — The Santa Barbara and Monterey Peninsula men’s basketball teams will meet Thursday in a non-conference matchup at the Monterey Bay Classic.

The game will tip off at 7 p.m. on Dec. 4 at Monterey Peninsula College.

Santa Barbara (5-2) enters with a winning record, having edged Victor Valley 64-63 in its last outing on Nov. 25. Jack Berry led the Vaqueros with 15 points in that victory.

Monterey Peninsula (3-5) is looking to build momentum after an 86-84 road win over De Anza on Nov. 22. The Lobos have shown offensive capability, but have allowed 90 or more points in two of their losses this season.

The Vaqueros have played several close games, with four of their seven contests decided by four points or fewer. The Lobos’ season has been marked by volatility, with wins and losses often coming in wide-margin swings.

Following this tournament game, Santa Barbara will host Coalinga on Dec. 11. Monterey Peninsula will begin a three-game homestand on Dec. 12 against Merritt.
