Shasta vs Cosumnes River

COSUMNES RIVER, Calif. (Interstat) — The Cosumnes River Hawks, riding a three-game winning streak, will host the struggling Shasta Knights in a men’s junior college basketball game Thursday at the 42OT Annual James Clark Classic.

The matchup pits teams at opposite ends of the early-season spectrum. The Hawks (5-2) have won their last three contests by an average margin of 26 points, most recently a 92-63 road victory over Marin on Nov. 26. Their two losses came by a combined four points.

Meanwhile, the Knights (0-9) are still searching for their first win. They are coming off an 87-75 home loss to Contra Costa on Nov. 22, their ninth consecutive defeat to open the season. Shasta has allowed 85 or more points in five of those games.

The Thursday contest tips off the two-day classic for both teams. Cosumnes River will also host Lassen on Friday and Siskiyous on Saturday. Shasta faces Las Positas on Friday and Reedley on Saturday to conclude its tournament schedule.

The Hawks have shown a balanced offensive attack, scoring 87 points or more in four of their seven games. The Knights will aim to slow that momentum and break into the win column as non-conference play continues.
