Chabot vs Marin
KENTFIELD, Calif. (Interstat) — Two of the California community college men’s basketball season’s early success stories will meet Wednesday when the Chabot Gladiators visit the College of Marin Mariners.
Chabot (7-1) enters with one of the region’s top records, its only blemish a 77-66 road loss to Modesto on Nov. 18. The Gladiators have been dominant otherwise, averaging 78.6 points per game and coming off an 85-59 rout of Solano in their most recent outing on Nov. 21.
Marin (6-3) has shown a potent offense, scoring 93 points in a narrow road win over Diablo Valley last Saturday. However, consistency has been an issue, with the Mariners absorbing a 92-63 home loss to Cosumnes River and a 109-80 road defeat to West Valley in their two prior games.
The Gladiators’ defense, which has held four opponents under 70 points, will be tested by a Marin squad averaging over 82 points per contest. Chabot’s balanced attack features five players averaging double figures in scoring.
Tipoff is set for Wednesday night in Kentfield. Chabot will visit Cuesta on Saturday, while Marin travels to face Ohlone the same day.
