Dodge City vs Pratt
Preview: Dodge City Looks to Rebound Against Winless Pratt
PRATT, Kan. (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Saturday when the Dodge City Conquistadors visit the Pratt Beavers in a men’s junior college basketball matchup.
Dodge City (10-4) enters looking to right itself after a 66-82 home loss to Hutchinson on Wednesday. The Conquistadors had won three straight prior to that defeat. Pratt (0-9) continues to search for its first victory of the season following a 68-86 loss at Cowley, also on Wednesday.
The Conquistadors are led by guard Jayvion Nurse, who scored 14 points in the loss to Hutchinson. Over his last four games, Nurse is averaging 11.3 points and 3.0 assists. Forward Wesly Rosa added 7 rebounds and 4 blocks in that contest.
Pratt’s hopes rest heavily on forward Justin Robinson, who is coming off a season-high 17-point, 5-rebound performance against Cowley. He has scored in double figures in three of his last four outings. Seydina Faye (15 points) and Hunter Vaughn (12 points) provided support in the Beavers’ most recent game.
Despite Pratt’s record, the Beavers have been competitive, with four of their nine losses coming by single digits, including a narrow 79-81 defeat to Seward County on Dec. 3. Dodge City, however, has shown resilience with several close wins, including an overtime victory at Cloud County on Nov. 29.
The teams’ upcoming schedules diverge sharply. Following this game, Dodge City begins a stretch with seven of its next ten at home. Pratt, conversely, will play six of its next ten on the road.
A statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a 100-100 tie, suggesting a potentially high-scoring affair. Tip-off is set for Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Beaver Dome.
