Motlow State Bucks Look to Rebound Against Struggling South Georgia State Hawks in Holiday Classic

DOUGLAS, Ga. (Interstat) — The Motlow State Bucks (5-4) aim to steady their season against the struggling South Georgia State Hawks (1-4) in a men’s junior college basketball matchup at the 9th Annual B-Mac’s Christmas Classic on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025.

The Bucks enter having dropped three of their last four, including a 61-81 road loss to Calhoun on Monday. A bright spot in that defeat was forward Sagna Ousseynou, who posted 13 points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Ousseynou has been a consistent force, averaging a double-double in recent contests, including a 19-point, 12-rebound performance in an 88-82 win over Calhoun on Nov. 25.

Motlow State’s season has been marked by volatility, featuring both a 105-point offensive outburst and a 37-point loss. Guard Tarecous Stevens, who scored 11 points in the latest game, provides backcourt support.

South Georgia State seeks momentum after a nearly three-week layoff. The Hawks’ last official result was an 85-74 home win over Denmark Tech on Nov. 21, led by Jeremy Anderson’s 20-point, 12-rebound double-double. Their schedule shows a forfeit loss to Denmark Tech on Dec. 6, but details were not immediately available. Prior to their win, the Hawks endured four consecutive double-digit losses to open the season, indicating potential defensive challenges.

The Hawks will rely on Anderson and forward Aaron Jones, who nearly had a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds in their last outing. Guard Da’Avion Thomas facilitates, dishing seven assists in that game.

This non-conference holiday tournament game presents a contrast in trajectories. Motlow State looks to leverage its more potent offense and Ousseynou’s interior presence to climb above .500. South Georgia State, having played fewer games, hopes its extended preparation time can cure early-season woes and spring an upset on its home floor.

Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday at South Georgia State’s campus arena. The game is part of the B-Mac’s Christmas Classic event.
