Indian Hills vs Mineral Area
Preview: Indian Hills Warriors vs. Mineral Area Cardinals
FARMINGTON, Mo. (Interstat) — A clash of trajectories highlights the SFC Rotary Shootout on Saturday as the nationally top-ranked Indian Hills Warriors face the Mineral Area Cardinals in a men’s junior college basketball showcase.
The Warriors (11-1) arrive as a juggernaut, riding a six-game winning streak since their only loss on Nov. 15. Their offense has been explosive, averaging 94.5 points during the streak, including a 125-point outburst on Dec. 5. They are coming off a dominant 95-62 victory over McCook on Wednesday where Chiang Ring scored 20 points with eight rebounds and Sawyer Mayhugh posted a double-double.
Ring, a versatile forward, has been a consistent force. Over his last seven games, he is averaging 11.6 points and 7.9 rebounds while showcasing strong rim protection. His recent 16-point, 10-rebound performance against Lincoln Trail underscores his two-way impact.
Mineral Area (6-5) looks to stabilize after dropping three straight games on a tough Texas road trip, each by 10 points or fewer. The Cardinals fell 75-74 at Western Texas last Saturday, a game in which Nassir Binion shined with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Binion has emerged as a primary scoring option for the Cardinals, averaging 25.5 points over his last two contests. His 26-point effort against Midland on Dec. 5 demonstrates his capability to carry the offensive load against high-level competition.
The matchup inside between Ring and Binion will be pivotal. Mineral Area must find an answer for Indian Hills’ depth and offensive firepower to avoid being overwhelmed. The Warriors have four players averaging double-figure scoring in their recent games, including Ater Manyuon, who added 16 points off the bench Wednesday.
For the Cardinals, reversing their recent fortunes will require containing the Warriors’ transition game and improving defensive consistency after allowing an average of 81.3 points during their skid.
Saturday’s contest serves as a final showcase for both teams before the holiday break. Indian Hills seeks to solidify its ranking, while Mineral Area aims for a season-defining upset on a neutral floor.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, Dec. 13, at the SFC Rotary Shootout.
