Copiah-Lincoln vs Delgado

Preview: Copiah-Lincoln Wolves at Delgado Dolphins

NEW ORLEANS (Interstat) — A tight men’s junior college basketball rematch is set for Saturday when the Delgado Dolphins host the Copiah-Lincoln Wolves.

Both teams enter the non-conference contest with 3-3 records, seeking momentum before their holiday breaks. The matchup carries added weight as Delgado (3-4) earned a 74-69 victory at Copiah-Lincoln in the season opener for both teams on Nov. 7.

The Dolphins are coming off a 74-70 road win against Hinds on Monday. A key factor will be the performance of forward Amir Rios, who has been a consistent force for Delgado. Rios is averaging a double-double in recent outings, including a 14-point, 15-rebound, five-assist effort in a narrow loss to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Dec. 4 and a 26-point, 10-rebound performance against Holmes on Nov. 20.

Copiah-Lincoln looks to avenge its early-season loss and rebound from a 55-65 defeat at Shelton State on Nov. 24. In that game, Tyrell Bowles posted 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Koie Williams added 11 points and eight assists. The Wolves’ schedule shows a 0-0 result against Southern-Shreveport on Dec. 6, indicating a postponement or cancellation.

Delgado’s season has been marked by close games, with three of its four losses coming by single digits. Copiah-Lincoln has shown similar volatility, with its three losses by an average of 8.3 points and its wins by an average of 9.6 points.

The Dolphins will rely on home court at The Dock, while the Wolves aim to leverage their inside presence, led by Bowles and Moustapha Salekh, to counter Rios and secure a split of the season series.

Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025.
