MERCED, Calif. (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Southwest College Cougars will look to complete a quick two-game sweep of the Merced College Blue Devils when the California community college men’s basketball teams meet again Saturday.

The Cougars (6-4) defeated the Blue Devils (1-5) 57-42 on Friday night. Los Angeles Southwest has won three of its last four games, including an 89-68 road victory over Porterville last Saturday. In that win, Demaree Collins scored 20 points and Alusine Barrie added 16.

Merced has lost five straight games since its only win of the season on Nov. 8. The Blue Devils are coming off an 83-66 home loss to Feather River on Nov. 16, a game in which Quincy White posted a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

The Cougars’ offense has shown potency, scoring 89 or more points in three of their victories. The Blue Devils, meanwhile, have struggled to find consistent scoring, failing to reach 70 points in four of their five losses.

Saturday’s contest is the second leg of a back-to-back for both teams in this non-conference matchup.
