Coffeyville vs Cloud County
Preview: Coffeyville Ravens at Cloud County Thunderbirds
CONCORDIA, Kan. (Interstat) — The Coffeyville Ravens look to snap a two-game skid when they visit the Cloud County Thunderbirds in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Wednesday night.
Coffeyville (6-3) enters after a 76-68 home loss to Dodge City on Saturday. The Ravens had won three straight prior to losses against Cowley and Dodge City. Cloud County (4-5) seeks to end its own losing streak, having dropped four consecutive games, most recently a 75-70 road loss at Colby on Saturday.
The game features a compelling matchup in the frontcourt. Coffeyville’s Daniel Ntambwe is coming off a dominant 16-point, 14-rebound performance in the loss to Dodge City, his third double-double in the last six games. The forward is averaging 11.3 points and 9.7 rebounds over that stretch.
Cloud County will counter with forward Elidjah Savane, who has been a bright spot during the team’s slump. He nearly posted a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds against Colby and recorded a 15-point, 12-rebound game against Dodge City on Nov. 29.
Coffeyville’s offense has shown potency, scoring 99 points in a win over Independence on Nov. 22, but has averaged just 72 points in its two recent losses. Jack Sorrell, who scored 18 points against Dodge City, provides a key secondary scoring option.
Cloud County’s recent struggles have included narrow defeats, falling by three points in overtime to Dodge City and by two points to Barton. Kaidan Chatham, who scored 18 points alongside Savane at Colby, offers additional scoring punch.
The Ravens have fared better on the road this season, winning at Seward County 78-62 on Nov. 25. The Thunderbirds are 2-2 at home, with wins over Seward County and North Platte in November.
Following this contest, Coffeyville hosts Colby on Saturday. Cloud County travels to face Hutchinson on the same day.
