Mount San Jacinto vs Citrus

GLENDORA, Calif. (Interstat) — A marquee early-season men’s junior college basketball matchup is set for Tuesday as the Mount San Jacinto Eagles visit the Citrus Owls in a battle of top California teams.

The Eagles (6-1) enter the contest looking to rebound from their first loss of the season, an 86-71 defeat to Saddleback on Saturday. Despite the loss, Tyler Frazier-Mathews posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Daniel Crawford scored a team-high 15 points. Prior to the setback, Mount San Jacinto had opened the season with six consecutive wins, including victories over Irvine Valley and Palomar.

The Owls (5-1) also carry the sting of a recent narrow defeat, falling 116-113 in double-overtime to Fullerton last Friday. Citrus was led by a 35-point performance from Leo Ricketts and a 25-point effort from Amiri Meadows. Their high-powered offense has been a hallmark, having scored over 100 points in three of their five wins this season, including a 126-point outburst against Orange Coast.

Tuesday’s game features two of the region’s most potent offenses and represents a key non-conference test for both squads. Mount San Jacinto will aim to re-establish its defensive presence after the Saddleback loss, while Citrus looks to defend its home court and continue its own strong start.
