Monterey Peninsula vs De Anza

CUPERTINO, Calif. (Interstat) — The De Anza Mountain Lions, riding high after a dominant victory, will host the Monterey Peninsula Lobos in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Saturday at the Hartnell Tournament.

De Anza (4-1) enters the contest following a 97-75 road win over Hartnell on Friday. The Mountain Lions’ offense has been potent this season, averaging over 95 points per game. Their lone loss came on the road against Marin, 98-87, on Nov. 8.

Monterey Peninsula (2-4) snapped a three-game skid with an 86-79 win at Canada (Calif.) on Nov. 14. The Lobos have struggled to find consistency, with their two victories bookended by a series of losses. Their offense has shown flashes, but defensive lapses have been a challenge.

The game presents a classic contrast in early-season momentum. The Mountain Lions will look to continue their winning ways with a high-scoring attack, while the Lobos aim to build on their most recent success and even their tournament record.

This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the teams this season. They are slated to face each other again on Jan. 2, 2026, in Monterey.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025.
