McCook vs Laramie County

Preview of McCook at Laramie County Men’s Basketball

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Interstat) — A quick rematch and a surging star will highlight the junior college men’s basketball matchup when the McCook Indians visit the Laramie County Golden Eagles on Saturday.

The teams met just over a month ago on Nov. 1 in McCook, with the Indians securing a decisive 98-80 victory. McCook (5-3) enters this contest having won four of its last five, including a 90-83 road win at Southwest Tennessee on Nov. 28. Laramie County (4-5) has found its rhythm offensively lately, winning three of its last four games and averaging 101.5 points in its last two victories.

A primary catalyst for the Golden Eagles’ recent success is sophomore guard TJ Coulter. He is coming off a dominant 32-point, 7-rebound performance in a 112-74 rout of Otero on Nov. 29. Over his last four full games, Coulter is averaging 24.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists, establishing himself as one of the region’s most explosive scorers.

McCook will counter with a balanced attack that produced five double-figure scorers in the first meeting against Laramie County. The Indians have shown resilience in close games, with a 3-1 record in contests decided by five points or fewer this season.

For Laramie County, reversing the result from November will require containing McCook’s transition game and improving its perimeter defense after allowing 98 points in the first matchup. The Golden Eagles have been strong at home recently, winning their last two games in Cheyenne by an average of 34 points.

This game represents the final home contest of the calendar year for Laramie County before a two-game road trip. McCook continues a challenging stretch of road games before returning home in January.

Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Laramie County’s home court in Cheyenne.
