North Dakota St Science vs Indian Hills
OTTUMWA, Iowa (Interstat) — A surging Indian Hills squad looks to continue its dominant start when it hosts North Dakota State College of Science in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Saturday in the Norris Asphalt Classic.
The Warriors (8-1) have won four straight since their only loss, an 80-71 defeat at Snow College on Nov. 15. They are coming off an 87-54 rout of Lincoln Trail on Nov. 25, where Chiang Ring posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes. Ring has been a consistent force, recording double-doubles in three of his last five games and providing a major rim-protecting presence.
They face a Wildcats team (1-1) that is finding its rhythm after a season-opening split. NDSCS is coming off a commanding 90-58 victory over Marshalltown on Friday. Luke Christensen led the way with 28 points and eight rebounds, while Jikany Deang added 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Christensen’s scoring punch will be vital for the Wildcats against an Indian Hills defense that has held opponents to an average of 68.2 points during its current win streak. The Warriors’ balance is key; in their last outing, KJ LaMonte scored 14 points and Taj Au-Duke dished out nine assists alongside Ring’s double-double.
The game marks the first meeting between the programs this season and a challenging non-conference test for the Wildcats before a long break. Indian Hills, meanwhile, continues a busy December schedule aiming to solidify its national standing.
Tip-off is set for Saturday at the Norris Asphalt Classic in Ottumwa.
