PRESCOTT, Ariz. (Interstat) — The Yavapai men’s junior college basketball team defeated Community Christian 85-70 on Saturday behind a dominant inside performance from Rudolfs Svitins. Svitins recorded a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Roughriders improved to 2-4 overall. Alex Pierce added 24 points for Yavapai. The Saints, who fell to 0-5, were led by a strong first-half offensive effort but could not sustain it after halftime. Yavapai shot efficiently from the floor to pull away in the second half, overcoming a game where both teams combined for 70 points in the first quarter alone. The Roughriders next host Southern Idaho on Dec. 12.
