SNYDER, Texas (Interstat) — Western Texas edged Mineral Area 75-74 in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday. The Westerners improved to 5-5 overall, while the Cardinals fell to 6-5.

The game was a tight contest throughout. Mineral Area held a narrow 74-75 lead late before Western Texas secured the final margin. Key performances fueled the back-and-forth affair, led by Western Texas’ Zayier Dean and Viktor Bystrom. Kevin Peyrolon-Nunez paced Mineral Area in the loss.

The outcome defied a pregame projection that heavily favored the Cardinals to win. Both teams return to action next week.
