IRVINE, Calif. (Interstat) — Two of California’s early-season men’s junior college basketball contenders, the Cuyamaca Coyotes and Irvine Valley Lasers, will put their three-win records on the line Friday night.

The Coyotes (3-2) travel to face the Lasers (3-1) in a non-conference matchup. Cuyamaca is coming off a 76-69 home victory over Rio Hondo on Nov. 12, a win that snapped a two-game skid for the team. The Coyotes’ offense has shown flashes, but consistency has been an issue early in the season.

Irvine Valley enters with momentum, having won its last two contests. The Lasers edged Los Angeles City 69-66 on the road Saturday. Their lone loss came at home against Cerritos on Nov. 6.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. at Irvine Valley College. Following this contest, Cuyamaca’s next game is at home against Santa Ana on Dec. 3, while Irvine Valley travels to play Desert on Nov. 25.
