BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Interstat) — The Bakersfield College Renegades, coming off a narrow road loss, will look to get back above .500 when they host the struggling Lemoore College Golden Eagles in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Friday.

The game, part of the Milt Stowe Classic, pits a Bakersfield squad (3-2) against a Lemoore team (1-2) seeking its first win in nearly two weeks.

The Renegades fell 81-79 at Santa Barbara last Friday despite a standout performance from Zykiar Henderson, who poured in 35 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Markell Brooks added 10 points and nine rebounds in the loss.

Bakersfield’s season has been marked by close contests, including a 93-92 double-overtime victory over Reedley on Nov. 8.

Lemoore enters on a two-game skid, most recently losing 83-65 at West Valley on Nov. 12. In that game, Mykayle McCoy led the Golden Eagles with 24 points and nine rebounds, while Na’Jae Stevenson contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds. Lemoore’s sole victory was a 97-58 rout of Imperial Valley on Nov. 8.

Friday’s contest offers Bakersfield a chance to solidify its record before hosting Sequoias on Saturday. Lemoore continues a tough road stretch, traveling to face Ventura immediately after Friday’s game.
