REDDING, Calif. (Interstat) — The Feather River Golden Eagles look to rebound from a tough loss when they face the Contra Costa Comets in a men’s junior college basketball game Friday at the Shasta College Tournament.

Feather River (4-4) is coming off an 83-66 road loss to Santa Rosa on Thursday. The Golden Eagles have alternated wins and losses over their last five games. Their season has been marked by inconsistency, with a four-game losing streak earlier this month bookended by two separate two-game winning streaks.

Contra Costa (3-1) enters with momentum, having not played since a 78-72 victory over Folsom Lake on Nov. 15. The Comets’ only blemish this season was an 88-54 road loss to Las Positas on Nov. 7. They have shown resilience, bouncing back from that defeat with a close win over Los Medanos.

The matchup pits Feather River’s search for consistency against a Contra Costa team enjoying a extended break. The game is part of tournament play organized by the California Community College Athletic Association.

Following this contest, Feather River will play Merritt on Saturday, also at the Shasta College Tournament. Contra Costa will remain at the tournament to face Shasta on Saturday.
