SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The Victor Valley Rams will look to build on their first win of the season when they visit the San Diego Miramar Jets in a California men’s junior college basketball matchup on Friday.

Victor Valley (1-3) snapped a three-game losing streak with an 87-63 home victory over Porterville on Nov. 15. The Rams’ offense was fueled by a balanced attack, with Raoul Churchill, Jaylen Contreras and Derrick Hankins each scoring between 13 and 14 points.

San Diego Miramar (3-3) is coming off a narrow 91-86 road loss to Santa Ana on Tuesday. Ah-Zion Applewhaite led the Jets in that contest, scoring 22 points in just 20 minutes of play. Dimetrius Simpson added a near double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Jets have been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses over their last five games. Their most decisive performance was a 91-57 rout of Rio Hondo on Nov. 15.

Friday’s game will be the final outing for both teams before the Thanksgiving week. Victor Valley travels to Santa Barbara next Tuesday, while San Diego Miramar is off until hosting Fullerton on Dec. 3.
