Palo Verde vs Lemoore
LEMOORE, Calif. (Interstat) — Two California men’s junior college basketball teams looking to halt losing streaks will meet Thursday when the Lemoore Golden Eagles host the Palo Verde Pirates.
The Golden Eagles (1-2) are looking to rebound after a 65-83 road loss to West Valley on Nov. 12. They previously split a pair of games on Nov. 7-8, falling to Cuyamaca 69-74 before a decisive 97-58 victory over Imperial Valley.
The visiting Pirates (1-4) are mired in a three-game skid, with their last outing a 70-92 home loss to Foothill on Nov. 8. Their lone victory this season came on Nov. 1, a 91-44 road win against Imperial Valley. Since then, they have conceded an average of 88.6 points per game in their four losses.
Thursday’s contest will be the final home game for Lemoore in a five-game stretch to open the season before they embark on a six-game road trip. Palo Verde continues its season-opening road-heavy schedule; this will be their fifth away game out of their first six contests.
The matchup offers both teams a chance to build momentum before their upcoming schedules. Lemoore travels to Bakersfield on Friday, while Palo Verde’s next game is at home against MiraCosta on Nov. 29.
