REDDING, Calif. (Interstat) — The Feather River Golden Eagles and Santa Rosa Bear Cubs, two men’s junior college basketball teams with matching early-season momentum, will face off Thursday in a California Community College contest at the Shasta College Tournament.

The Golden Eagles (4-3) enter the matchup after an 83-66 road victory over Merced on Sunday. That win snapped a three-game losing streak for Feather River. Amari Gray (17 points, 3 rebounds) and Travis Hightower (16 points, 5 rebounds) led the scoring in the bounce-back effort.

Santa Rosa (4-1) has won three straight games, including a 73-67 home victory over Alameda in its last outing on Saturday. The Bear Cubs’ only loss this season was a 64-51 road defeat against San Francisco on Nov. 2. Their current win streak includes a 100-point offensive performance against San Mateo and an overtime victory over Napa Valley.

Thursday’s game is the first of two tournament contests for each team. Feather River will travel to face Contra Costa on Friday, while Santa Rosa is set to play at Merritt.
