LAWSON STATE, Ala. (Interstat) — The Lawson State men’s basketball team will look to sweep the season series when it hosts Northeast Mississippi in a junior college matchup Friday.

The Cougars (2-5) defeated the visiting Tigers (4-3) 78-68 on Nov. 19 in their most recent head-to-head game. Both teams enter following losses on Dec. 2.

Northeast Mississippi fell 81-72 at Mississippi Delta despite 24 points from Javion Stephen and a 16-point, 9-rebound effort from Ezekiel Udozorh. The Tigers had won two of their previous three.

Lawson State is on a four-game skid after a 91-74 home loss to Jones. Jarett Fairley scored 20 points and Hannibal Smith added 10 points and six rebounds in that defeat. The Cougars’ only two wins this season are over Itawamba and Northeast Mississippi.

A Interstat game simulator projects a 100-100 tie.

Northeast Mississippi visits Three Rivers on Dec. 13. Lawson State’s next game is at Northwest Mississippi on Jan. 5.
