Cosumnes River vs Solano

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (Interstat) — The Cosumnes River Hawks delivered a dominant performance on the road Tuesday night, overwhelming the Solano Falcons in a lopsided men’s junior college basketball contest.

From the opening tip, the Hawks established a commanding lead, erupting for 63 points in the first quarter while holding the Falcons to just 15. The explosive start set the tone for the remainder of the game, as Cosumnes River cruised to a decisive victory. The Falcons managed to match the Hawks’ 32-point output in the second quarter, but the early deficit proved far too large to overcome.

The statistical sheet illustrated the sheer breadth of Cosumnes River’s dominance. The Hawks were ruthlessly efficient on offense, scoring 95 points from just 62 possessions for an offensive rating of 152.4. Their shooting was a model of accuracy, connecting on 42 of 67 attempts from the floor. Solano, by contrast, struggled to find any offensive rhythm, mustering only 47 points from 60 possessions for an offensive rating of 78.4 and shooting 15 for 43 from the field.

Cosumnes River also controlled the game in nearly every other facet. They dominated the boards with 42 total rebounds to Solano’s 28, including 11 offensive rebounds. Defensively, the Hawks forced 12 Solano turnovers while committing only three themselves, and recorded four steals and three blocks. The Falcons’ primary advantage came at the free-throw line, where they made 15 of 23 attempts compared to the Hawks’ 4 for 7.

Aaron Gillyard orchestrated the Hawks’ offense with a masterful performance, registering a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists in 34 minutes of action. He was complemented by a deep and productive supporting cast. Aalijah Gillyard neared a double-double of his own with 10 points and nine rebounds, while Jake Williams provided a spark off the bench with 11 points and six rebounds in just 11 minutes. Kainoa Marasco added 13 points and Mason Marsh chipped in nine points and three assists.

For the Falcons, Trevor Morris led the way with 13 points. Dominick Dennis was also in double figures, finishing with 10 points.

The victory improves Cosumnes River’s season record to 3-2 across all competitions. The loss drops Solano to 1-3 on the season. The game was organized by the California Community College Athletic Association.

Cosumnes River will look to build on this momentum when they travel to face Alameda on Friday. Solano will also be on the road for their next contest, visiting Chabot on Friday.
