ITAWAMBA, Miss. (Interstat) — The Itawamba men’s basketball team will look to avenge an early-season loss when it hosts Shelton State in a junior college matchup on Thursday.

The Indians (6-4) fell to the Buccaneers (4-2) 80-62 on Nov. 6 in Tuscaloosa. Itawamba enters on a high note after a 96-90 road victory over Calhoun on Tuesday. Shelton State seeks to rebound from a 73-60 road loss at East Mississippi on Monday.

Shelton State’s offense, which averaged 78 points in its two games prior to Monday, will be tested. The Buccaneers’ two losses this season have both come on the road. Itawamba has shown scoring potency, but consistency has been an issue during its 6-4 start.

Thursday’s contest is the final game for both teams before a break in their schedules. Shelton State will host Pearl River on Monday. Itawamba will travel to face Bishop State the same night.
