HOWARD, Texas (Interstat) — The Howard (Tex.) Hawks cruised to an 80-52 victory over the Mineral Area Cardinals in a men’s junior college basketball game Thursday night. The Hawks seized control early, building a 39-23 lead after the first quarter and extending it with a 41-29 second-quarter advantage.

Howard (Tex.) was efficient, shooting 54% from the floor and making 21 of 27 free throws. The Hawks also forced 25 turnovers. Elijah Tshibangu led the Hawks with 15 points. Nazir Allen scored 13 points for Mineral Area, which shot just 40% from the field. Howard (Tex.) improved to 7-2, while Mineral Area fell to 6-3.
