(Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Thursday when the Gadsden State Cardinals visit the Georgia Highlands Chargers.

Gadsden State (1-1) arrives after a narrow 88-87 road loss to Copiah-Lincoln on Monday. The Cardinals showed offensive firepower in that defeat, led by Jaedin Reyna (16 points, 7 assists), Julien Barnette (18 points) and Marcus Towns (14 points). They opened their season with an 80-67 home win over Pellissippi State on Nov. 1.

Georgia Highlands (0-2) looks to rebound from two decisive home losses to open its campaign. The Chargers fell to Roane State 77-69 on Nov. 25 before a 99-63 road defeat to Walters State the following day. Defense will be a key concern after allowing an average of 88 points per game.

Thursday’s contest represents the final outing for each team before a brief break. Gadsden State will host Copiah-Lincoln on Dec. 11 in a rematch. Georgia Highlands will host Chattanooga State on Dec. 6.

Tip-off is set for Thursday, Dec. 4, at Georgia Highlands.
