NAPA, Calif. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build on uneven starts to the season will meet Monday when the Reedley Tigers visit the Napa Valley Storm in a California community college men’s basketball matchup.

Both teams enter with identical 2-3 records. The Tigers are coming off a dominant 81-43 road victory over Gavilan on Thursday, a win that snapped a three-game losing streak. Prior to that, Reedley suffered a narrow 93-92 double-overtime loss to Bakersfield.

Napa Valley seeks to rebound from a tough 83-57 home loss to Las Positas on the same night. The Storm’s recent outings have been close, including a 78-76 overtime defeat at Santa Rosa on Nov. 11.

Reedley’s Ryan Rice was a key contributor in the win over Gavilan, nearly securing a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds in just 19 minutes of play. Teammate Russell Gibson added 12 points.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest is projected to be a high-scoring and tightly contested affair, ending in a 100-100 tie.

The game will be the first of a busy week for Reedley, which hosts Canada (Calif.) on Wednesday. Napa Valley continues its homestand before traveling to face Ohlone next Saturday.
