ATHENS, Texas (Interstat) — A key early-season men’s junior college basketball matchup is set for Wednesday when the Trinity Valley Cardinals host the Kilgore Rangers.

The Cardinals (7-1) enter the Red Out Game at home riding a five-game winning streak, most recently a 77-62 road victory over Northwest Florida State on Nov. 26. Their only loss came at Midland, 75-62, on Nov. 14.

The Rangers (4-1) have won three straight since their lone defeat, a 67-66 home loss to McLennan on Nov. 15. Kilgore last played on Nov. 18, beating Southwestern Christian 76-60 behind a near triple-double from Kaiden Myers, who had 20 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.

Trinity Valley boasts the stronger overall record, but Kilgore’s potent offense, which has averaged 79.2 points in its wins, will test the Cardinals’ defense. The game is the conference opener for both teams.

Following this contest, Trinity Valley travels to Tyler on Saturday, Dec. 6. Kilgore hosts Lamar State-Port Arthur the same day.
