Denmark Tech vs Central Georgia

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (Interstat) — The Central Georgia Technical College Titans used a dominant first-half performance and stifling defense to snap a four-game skid, rolling past the Denmark Technical College Panthers 86-61 in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday night.

The Titans improved to 2-4 overall, while the Panthers fell to 1-5.

Central Georgia seized control from the opening tip, racing out to a 43-31 lead by the end of the first quarter behind efficient shooting and relentless pressure. The Titans shot 51.4% from the floor in the half and forced 12 Denmark Tech turnovers, converting them into easy transition opportunities. The lead ballooned in the second quarter as Central Georgia opened the period on an 18-2 run, effectively putting the game out of reach by halftime with a commanding 86-61 advantage.

Denmark Tech, which entered the game with an offensive rating of 69.7 points per 100 possessions, never found its rhythm. The Panthers shot just 22 of 67 from the field, a frigid 32.8%, and connected on only 4 of 19 attempts from three-point range. They were also plagued by 19 turnovers, which the Titans converted into 28 points.

Central Georgia’s offensive balance and defensive presence proved overwhelming. The Titans shot 37 of 72 overall and outrebounded Denmark Tech 44-30. Their interior defense was particularly formidable, recording 11 blocked shots.

Roosevelt Brown led the Titans with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to go with six assists and a game-high five steals. Cornelius Hines provided a game-high 18 points, adding six rebounds and four blocks. Kaziaes Hemphill came off the bench to contribute 14 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks in just 18 minutes, while Lemar Edmond also chipped in 14 points.

For Denmark Tech, Jordan Burgess led the way with 13 points. Tyree Edwards added 11 points and four rebounds, but the Panthers’ offense consistently stalled against Central Georgia’s length and activity.

The game was a struggle for Denmark Tech from the start. After the Panthers’ William Olden committed a turnover on their first possession, Central Georgia’s Roosevelt Brown hit a three-pointer on the other end to open the scoring. The Titans never trailed, methodically building their lead as Denmark Tech misfired on 13 of its first 16 shot attempts.

A layup by Denmark Tech’s Remetrious Sutton with 14:46 left in the first quarter briefly made the score 12-7, but Central Georgia responded with a 7-0 run. The Titans’ lead remained in double digits for the final 28 minutes of the contest.

The second quarter was a clinical display by the home team. Leading 45-31, Central Georgia unleashed its decisive run, fueled by layups from Brown and Hemphill, a three-pointer from Kaden Douglass, and a jumper from Hines. Denmark Tech managed just one field goal over a span of nearly six minutes as the Titans built an insurmountable 61-33 lead.

Both teams emptied their benches for much of the second half, with the margin never dipping below 25 points. The Titans’ reserves maintained the defensive intensity, holding Denmark Tech to 30 points in the second half on 10-of-33 shooting.

According to Interstat’s ELO system, Central Georgia entered the game with a 63.7% probability to win. The Titans surpassed that projection with ease, capturing their first victory since their season opener.

Denmark Tech will look to rebound at home against South Georgia State on Saturday. Central Georgia’s next contest is at home against Tallahassee State on Dec. 13.
