OCEANSIDE, Calif. (Interstat) — The Irvine Valley Lasers and MiraCosta Spartans, two California men’s junior college basketball teams seeking consistency, will meet Friday night.

Irvine Valley (1-1) enters the contest coming off a 72-67 home victory over Canyons last Friday. The Lasers were led by Matt Mowers, who scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Yanis Aldeguer, who added 20 points and nine boards.

MiraCosta (0-3) is still searching for its first win after a 92-75 loss to Mount San Jacinto on Wednesday. The Spartans have faced a tough early schedule, with their other defeats coming on the road against Saddleback and Santiago Canyon.

Despite their contrasting recent results, a statistical projection from Interstat anticipates a tightly contested matchup, simulating a 100-100 final score.

The game will be the first of a back-to-back for the Lasers, who travel to face Los Angeles City on Saturday. The Spartans’ next contest is at Citrus on Tuesday.
