Coalinga vs Diablo Valley
PLEASANT HILL, Calif. (Interstat) — The Diablo Valley Vikings look to build on a season-opening win when they host the struggling Coalinga Falcons in a men’s junior college basketball matchup on Wednesday.
Diablo Valley (1-0) opened its season on Oct. 30 with an 85-78 road victory over Canada College. The Vikings have had a long layoff and will be playing their first home game of the young season.
They will face a Coalinga team seeking to regain its footing after a 1-2 start. The Falcons are coming off a 62-58 loss at El Camino on Friday. In that game, Coalinga’s Ryan Gomwalk delivered a strong all-around performance, scoring 26 points, grabbing six rebounds and blocking three shots. Kristian Graham added 14 points.
The Falcons’ lone win came in their opener, a 77-69 victory at Hartnell on Nov. 1, before consecutive road losses to Oxnard and El Camino.
This non-conference game, organized by the California Community College Athletic Association, will be the first of a challenging three-game road stretch for Coalinga, which travels to De Anza on Saturday. Diablo Valley’s next contest is at San Jose on Nov. 18.
