INDEPENDENCE, Kan. (Interstat) — The Independence Pirates narrowly defeated the Pratt Beavers 81-80 in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday. Independence overcame a 10-point halftime deficit, outscoring Pratt 49-39 in the second half to secure the comeback victory. Galvin Luketa led all scorers with 20 points for Pratt. Sterling Knox paced the Pirates with 11 points, nine rebounds and five assists. The win improves Independence’s record to 3-3, while Pratt remains winless at 0-6.
