East Mississippi vs Wabash Valley

GRANDIN, Mo. (Interstat) — A pair of men’s junior college basketball teams on different trajectories, the East Mississippi Lions and Wabash Valley Warriors, will meet Friday at the Bank of Grandin Thanksgiving Classic.

East Mississippi (4-1) enters the contest looking to rebound from its first loss of the season, a decisive 88-69 road defeat to Shelton State on Nov. 17. Despite the loss, the Lions feature a potent offense, having scored 83 or more points in three of their four victories. Diovion Famakinde (22 points) and Jordan Alexander (16 points) were bright spots in the loss, while DeAndre Lewis added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Wabash Valley (3-3) will look to bounce back on its home floor after falling 70-58 to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Thursday. The Warriors have alternated wins and losses over their last five games and are seeking consistency. Their season includes a 98-65 loss to Mineral Area but also a 77-55 victory over Harry S Truman.

The Interstat game simulator projects a high-scoring affair, predicting a 100-100 tie.

Friday’s matchup pits East Mississippi’s high-powered attack against a Wabash Valley squad searching for a winning formula. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
