De Anza vs Marin
KENTFIELD, Calif. (Interstat) — An early-season test awaits the undefeated De Anza Mountain Lions as they face the Marin Mariners in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday in the Don Barksdale Tournament.
The Mountain Lions (2-0) have opened the season with a pair of dominant offensive performances, averaging 110.5 points per game. They are coming off a 102-78 home victory over Cuesta on Tuesday, following a 119-87 win against Solano on Nov. 1.
The Mariners (1-1) split their first two contests on the road. They rebounded from a season-opening 88-67 loss at Santa Rosa with a 78-67 win at Butte on Nov. 2.
Despite the contrasting records, a statistical model from Interstat gives Marin a 74 percent probability to win the contest. The game is the first of a tough upcoming stretch for De Anza, which will play seven of its next 10 games away from home.
Saturday’s matchup is one of two games for each team in the California Community College Athletic Association-affiliated tournament this weekend.
